A Visual Timeline
A storyboard is a visual timeline of your narrative to use as a reference for your project.
Graphic novels/comics are great examples because they have:
Strong emphasis on visuals to help tell the story
Small snippets of dialogue to engage and inform due to similar limitations to game design
A simple flow of events done in panels

To make your own storyboard, include only key events to get a rough timeline. The game loops you have planned should help keep your storyboard focused.
