About The Polygon Bridge
Learn everything you need to know about the Sandbox Polygon bridge and how to use it.
Ethereum (L1) vs. Polygon (L2)
The Ethereum blockhain is a decentralized platform with a Proof of Work consensus mechanism that enables users to conduct secured peer to peer digital transactions and is, as such, a popular option for dApps.
In contrast Polygon is built on top of the Ethereum blockchain as a Layer 2 scaling solution that uses a Proof of Stake (PoS) mechanism. As it is built on a different layer of the blockchain, you can expect less of the layer 1 frictions:
Faster transaction speed.
Less gas fees.
Greener interactions on the blockchain.
To interact with our upcoming features, benefit from a LAND multiplier on your staking, stake your SAND on one of our two staking programs, purchase a LAND in one of our upcoming LAND sales and much more, you will need to transfer your assets to the Polygon network.
This is where you will need to use the Polygon Bridge.
About the PoS bridge
A Proof of Stake bridge, commonly referred to as a PoS bridge enables transfer of tokens between layers (Ethereum layer 1 and Polygon layer 2 in our case). The PoS bridge works in two steps: tokens are first sent from the initial network, reaches a checkpoint halfway through the transfer, then successfully finalizes the move to the target network.
The Sandbox created a custom bridge that allows users to quickly transfer their LAND, SAND and soon ASSET and EXPERIENCE tokens to their smart contracts on the Polygon network.
Using the bridge only moves your tokens from one blockchain to the other. It doesn't interfere with anything else. In all matters it is the same token, only on a different blockchain.
The supply remains unchanged
The value remains unchanged
The utility remains unchanged
The Polygon Bridge is designed to increase interoperability between the Polygon and Ethereum blockchains. With the Polygon bridge on the Sandbox platform, you will be able to move your SAND and LAND from one to the other.
How to use the Polygon Bridge?
The Polygon bridge will enable you to transfer your LANDs and SAND from the Ethereum blockchain to Polygon's Layer 2 and vice versa. Both LAND and SAND will now be fully supported on Polygon’s network and you will be able to interact with them in a single place: https://sandbox.game/en/me/bridge.
